Origin of the Black Diamonds
Black diamond’s unparalleled enchanting beauty is a tangible proof of nature’s bounty. Popularly called Carbonados Diamonds and they make for startling jewelry. There are many myths yarned around this stone.

Black diamonds, the naturally colored ones are very rare; out of 10,000-mined diamonds, only one is a naturally colored black diamond. Black Diamonds have been popular since the creation of the universe; the oldest Black Diamond is the legendry Black Orlov. It is documented to have been discovered in India in the early 1800s. Originally weighing 195.00 carats it was cut into three pieces, carrying the myth associated with it. Today, one of the acclaimed pieces weighing 67.50 carat is set in diamond brooch cascading from an 1800 diamond necklace.

The Gruosi Diamond, weighing 115.34 carats is the world's largest heart shaped black diamond. It was christened after the famous Swiss jeweler Fawaz Gruosi. In fact, he is credited to have popularized black diamond jewellery with his alluring designs. Mined rough in 1998 from India, it took three years to cut the Gruosi Diamond.

The Amsterdam Diamond is another renowned 33.00-carat pear shaped black diamond faceted from 55.00-carat rough stone.
