Asscher Cut Diamonds
Asscher cut diamond is a stepped square cut developed in 1902 by Asscher brothers of Amsterdam, Holland. A diamond does not show all its attractiveness as a rough stone; in its place, it must be cut and polished to display the characteristic fire and brilliance that diamond stone is noted. Diamonds are cut into a number of shapes, which are normally designed to highlight these features. Asscher cut diamonds attract the eye into the design that features a strong art deco style.
Often known as the ‘square emerald cut’, this beautifully unique shape is very similar to the cut of emerald cut diamonds, except that it is square. The Asscher has a pavilion which is cut with rectangular facets in the same style as the emerald diamonds. This diamond features cropped corners that attracts the eye inward towards the center of the gemstone.
Remember that while purchasing Asscher cut diamonds, quality is a very important aspect. The way the diamond is cut will make it sparkle or not. Because, any cut can determine how much light is reflected in and out of the stone. All types of Asscher cuts come in a smaller size range. It is important that Asscher cut diamonds must be set in a four-pronged arrangement to protect the corners of the diamond from chipping.
