Paraiba Tourmaline was discovered in the year 1980’s by a prospector by the name Heitor Dimas Barbosa. The vivid blue giving the bluish green or greenish blue tinge is the variety belonging to cuprian elbaite. The mine is situated in the central region of the Brazilian state; Paraiba and Rio Grande do Norte.
