Christians in the medieval period were using this stone to make the crucification scene of Jesus. The legend behind the origin of this stone portrays, that the blood which fell after the crucification of Jesus stained some Jasper. The seal of German Emperor Rudlof II at Louvre in Paris is one such example of carving this bloodstone.
